Natural Laundry Scent Booster

Updated: Jul 13, 2021

If you have been looking for a natural cost effective solution to purchasing scent beads, fabric softener and dryer sheets I have a great DIY alternative to share with you. My laundry scent booster not only makes your laundry smell nice but also helps with stain removal and brightening whites too! It will also save you money as you can quit purchasing scent beads, dryer sheets and fabric softener, plus it is all natural. For this recipe you will need a glass container, 16 oz kosher salt, 1/2 cup of baking soda and 10-12 drops each Orange, Lemon and Peppermint essential oils. If citrus oils are not your thing, Lavender or Gentle Baby or would also be good choices. I myself just prefer the citrus oils for my laundry as they smell great and also help with cleansing.

To make the scent booster, pour your kosher salt and baking soda into your glass container and then stir to combine. Once combine add in your 10-12 drops of Orange, Lemon and Peppermint essential oils and then stir again to combine. The scent booster can be used right away or I think the scent is even better after it has a day or two to soak into the salt and baking soda. I add around a 2 to 3 tablespoons for regular size loads and 1/4 to 1/3 of a cup for large loads or extra dirty loads. This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled so that you don't have to make it as often. It is very shelf stable so you don't have to worry about it going bad if you make a big batch:)

I love that this one DIY can take the place of so many other laundry products and that it is all natural to boot. If you have any questions on making this laundry scent booster leave a comment below!
