All Natural DIY Insect Repellent

Updated: Jul 17, 2021

If you are anything like me and get eaten alive by bugs in the warmer months then I have a great all natural DIY bug repellent to share with you. No harsh chemicals and you get to avoid being eaten alive:) For this recipe you will need a 2oz glass spray bottle, 1 tsp sea salt, unscented witch hazel and 10 drops each Citronella, Lemongrass and Patchouli essential oils and 5 drops each Lavender and Peppermint essential oils.

All of these oils are natural insect repellents. Lemongrass also works to help keep ticks at bay and the lavender will help sooth your skin.

To make this repellent add your witch hazel and salt to your spray bottle then top off with water(distilled is the best). The salt and witch hazel are to help with dispersing the oils in the water. Next add in your 10 drops Citronella, Lemongrass and Patchouli essential oils and your 5 drops each of Lavender and Peppermint essential oils. Shake to combine and then your spray is ready to use. I like to reapply the spray every 2 hours when I am outside and be sure to shake before each use.
