All Natural DIY Bleach Alternative

Updated: Apr 4, 2021

As I have worked toward a more low tox, natural household, laundry products was one of the first places I started as they are more often the products with the dirtiest ingredients.

I wanted more natural products but didn't want to sacrifice my clothes smelling fresh and being bright and stain free. I have already shared a DIY Laundry Scent booster that took the place of scent beads and dryer sheets for me which you can find here if you are interested. Next, I turned my attention to finding an alternative to bleach. I still wanted to have nice, stain free, clothes where my whites stayed a bright white and was also safe to use on my colored

clothing but without the extra chemical load that comes with using bleach. I make no claims that this bleach alternative can do every single thing bleach does but it will do an awesome job on keeping your laundry bright and stain free and it is definitely a more natural alternative than using bleach along with being super affordable. Natural clean products don't have to break the bank after all:)

For this recipe you will need a glass container, 3 cups distilled water, a half cup of hydrogen peroxide, a quarter cup of baking soda, 15 drops lemon essential oil and two capfuls of Thieves cleaner. Pour the 3 cups of water and 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide into your glass

container. Next add in the 1/4 cup baking soda and stir until baking soda has dissolved. Once dissolved add in your 2 capfuls of Thieves cleaner and your 15 drops of lemon essential oil and then stir again and that is all there is to it. Just add a 1/4 cup of the bleach alternative to the bleach dispenser of your washing machine for any loads you need to brighten or remove stains in. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with how well this bleach alternative works and you can feel good that you are using a product that is free of harmful chemicals.
